The Covvi team are highly experienced in the prosthetics field and have collaborated throughout to put into practice the lessons learned from previous designs they have worked on.

The Covvi hand is enabled by an innovative actuator design with market-leading power density and comes in three different sizes: Small – 63/4, Medium – 71/4 – Large 73/4, operating with next level grip (70N) and speed (0.3s Tripod grip) capabilities.

It also has a three-way digit control system, in addition to an in-built e-paper screen that can display notifications, troubleshooting issues and training information during set-up.

Covvi are focused on providing easier access to all tools needed for the fitting of a prosthesis and so have developed a demo tower with USB-C charging and electrode input dock, fully compatible with all EQD hands.

This, along with a rapidly responsive and highly dedicated customer service team, ensures a smoother and more effective journey for patients from the moment of intial consultation – all Covvi products are built and repaired in the USA.

Thumb Design

Covvi’s thumb design is fully customizable, but by default includes passive flexing capability (also applies to all fingers) and operates via thumb force and position sensors, and intuitive rocker switch e.g. tap the thumb right to move it to the right!

Covvi has built a product with an innovative and highly robust thumb. Using a twin motor design, a rapid 0.3 seconds for both full rotation and full-flex travel can be achieved for effective thumb control.

There are two operational modes:

• Latched: prevalent in prosthetics already, using opposed and unopposed grips – this allows easier access to multiple grips.

• Dynamic: simultaneous thumb flex and
rotate (can use an open/open or
co-contraction to cycle grip patterns) – allows for a wider variety of grips without external input.

Hand Cover

The Covvi hand is protected by a highly water resistant neoprene glove with color and texture customizable rigid reinforcing panels.

All finger and thumb tips are touch-screen compatible, and all exterior components easily cleanable and easily replaceable.

The e-paper screen on the Covvi hand needs no power in order to function and can show information on grip modes to aid training, and error messages to diagnose any potential faults.

Flex Wrist

The flex wrist is already integrated into the Covvi hand as standard, featuring a passive sprung flex and push/push locking mechanism (+/-30°; great for bilateral users!), making the Covvi hand the shortest flex-wrist-inclusive, multi-articulated hand on the market.

The wrist also has a latched lock option that can be activated to secure the hand into various positions.

Electrodes

The Covvi electrodes are compatible with most standard electrobe cabling and operate at a 30-250Hz frequency band (highly sensitive at low levels).

Really easy to fit, our ‘T-shape’ construction drops through a hole in the socket wall and is locked in place with a spring-loaded clip. The flexible upper housing conforms well to the inside surface of socket walls.

Our electrodes also use bio-compatible titanium contacts, ensuring a comfortable, skin-friendly and flexible upper surface, in addition to a notch filter to reduce interference.

Power Supply

Our product features an extremely light and highly flexible battery solution that will follow the contours of the limb without bending the cell. Charged via a waterproof USB-C, which is great for charging on the go, and is compatible with all 7.4V EQD hand systems.

Our arm connectors are military-grade and utilize simple latching features. The power supply is compact and robust with a rubberized design which communicates with the built-in e-paper screen, displaying battery life among other information.

The power density is double that of competing systems: 7.4v 1600mAh, 2xCELLS (3.9in x 1.7in x 0.1in).

Sales Director (USA)

Bridget is the US-based sales director for Covvi and her role is a combination of customer relations, scheduling trade shows, coordinating sales travel plans, implementing sales budgets, in addition to managing revenue and costings – all of which support our continued growth around the world.

Coming from a background in prosthetics, and more specifically managing and developing a prosthetics company, it was a natural progression for Bridget and a good fit for her ambitions in honing business management skills: to utilise her existing swathes of experience to manage such a business from its inception.

The United States, Bridget believes, is an ideal location from which the global brand can orient due to the high expectations of business standards, and start-ups in particular – from there Covvi has the capability to effectively cultivate and take root in every country.

Bridget prioritises Covvi’s highly efficient and needs-oriented customer service, along with support for patients undergoing clinical trials for prosthetics, just as much as she values our technology. Bridget and her self-sufficient and devoted team, who brilliantly handle production and repairs to ensure a fast turn-around on a daily basis are a factor key to Covvi’s success in the US.

James Guillot

Engineering Manager

James is an engineering manager for Covvi USA who assists in the operation of the manufacturing and repair facility based in Texas and facilitates the sales process stateside. He monitors and tests all incoming prosthetic devices to ensure a high standard in durability and quality before they enter the market.

On a day-to-day basis his role varies according to the needs of Covvi customers. From the intricate stages of sourcing inventory storage and handling, to clean lab setup, as well as addressing manufacturing and repair needs; all the while maintaining the industry standards that safeguard the prosthetic devices during the production and repair processes.

James also provides support subsequent to the post-sales stage such as actioning repairs including those within warranty, addressing specific or complex issues, in addition to general technical support and helping to secure future customers!

To him, Covvi represents the future as a positivity-driven company that operates with a patient and clinician-centred passion, for the current and future development of products that are due to revolutionise the prosthetic industry on a global scale. Equipped with an outstanding group of people bedecked with extensive experience and understanding, there’s no stopping Covvi from enhancing the capabilities of our customers with upper-body limb differences.

Technical Sales Representative

Jessica’s role at Covvi is all about providing fundamental technical, sales and personnel support for her US-based colleagues as a Technical Sales Representative. Her day-to-day can vary hugely as a versatile asset to the team: she could be assisting Bridget with sales, or assisting James in his engineering-related duties, or even helping Ann with ongoing operational projects.

Applying almost a decade’s-worth of customer service experience, Jessica is thrilled to be a part of an organization such as ours, recognizing the importance of Covvi’s patient and clinician-centered attitude in everything that we do, and its position as an up-and-coming and revolutionary prosthetics manufacturer.

Jessica loves being part of a unique and invigorating team, who are dedicated to customer needs and work tirelessly to bring our Covvi hands to life in the United States of America.
