Anna Fusco
Anna is an Italian actress, singer and model, who was born without her left forearm.
This is her journey with the COVVI Hand.
For as long as I could remember, I’ve had to face life and adapt to my surroundings with only one hand, in a world made for two. My parents always emphasised the importance of reality by telling me what I could do, rather than what I couldn’t; and while I have fallen several times in my life, this way of thinking has always helped me to get back up and move on as a stronger person than before.
Growing up without on of my arms was always difficult with a unique set of obstacles I had to overcome. I’ve always had to fight to get what I need, but I’ve also never been discouraged when I haven’t succeeded. The doctors could never tell me why I was born with a congenial limb difference, but I haven’t let it hold me back from studying singing, acting and dancing, my greatest passions.
After participating in several singing competitions, including ‘Area Sanremo’, I also participated twice in the ‘Miss Italia’ competition, both in 2014 and 2018, finishing in the regional final in both years. My first appearance in 2014 marked the debut of my prosthesis, making me the first girl to participate in the competition with a prosthetic limb!
Following my appearance on Miss Italia 2018, I decided to become a professional coach for parents with children who share the same ideology as me, and who help all those who need it to believe in their own self-worth and become the person they want to be. I decided that I am a singer, actress, model and reggaeton dancer, and no-one else from going to hold me back from achieving those dreams.
In 2022, I was given the opportunity to trail the COVVI Hand, with a new socket and system that was custom made for me by Roberto Ariagno in the Maria Adelaide Orthopedic Workshop in Turin, which I have been wearing ever since. In the last few years I have continued to focus on my modelling career and have taken part in various advertising campaigns and fashion showcases for different brands across Italy. And it doesn’t end here!
“Life presents you with obstacles, but you set the limits”. Never hide who you are, because you were born like this, you don’t need to cover yourself. Love your body, because each one of use is unique and must not be afraid to show ourselves for who and what we are! I am proud to be who I am and for the person I have managed to become.
Their COVVI journey is only just beginning
