What Is A Bionic Hand?

Prosthetics That Redefine Ability

A bionic hand is an advanced prosthetic solution, designed to mimic the movements made by human hands. Providing an upgraded level of functionality in comparison to other prosthetics, bionic hands support people who have an upper-limb difference to complete daily tasks and activities.

Often controlled through signals that are produced when a user flexes the muscles in their arm, the bionic hand is sent commands when the signal is detected by sensors inside the user’s prosthetic. The bionic hand will then move in response, opening and closing depending on which way the muscles are flexed.

Designed for all types of residual limbs

As bionic technology continues to evolve, COVVI has focused on creating a solution that provides users with an unmatched level of personalisation. The COVVI Hand can be adapted to a user’s exact specifications and needs through the use of the COVVI Go App.

From selecting the hand positions that a person will use the most throughout the day, to setting the intensity of the signal required to make the hand move.  This means that users can work alongside their clinicians to ensure that their COVVI Hand matches their lifestyle.

Please Note: The COVVI Hand is a complete limb absence solution, therefore your residual limb must end between your wrist and shoulder in order to be fitted with a prosthetic hand like ours. As it is also a myo-electric prosthetic device controlled by EMG sensors, patients must also be able to produce muscle signals to operate the hand, which means it isn't suitable for those who have lost the ability to move their arm from an injury, stroke or any other form of paralysis.
