COVVI User Awarded First Place at European Parasurfing Championships

Sarah Almagro Vellejo was awarded the top prize for her solo Prone 2 event at the European Parasurfing Championships.
With a score of 12.16, Almagro went home with the gold medal, surpassing her opponents from both the French and English teams.
The competition brought together over 70 parasurfers from 10 European countries, including; Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands.
Held on Prados beach in Galicia, Sarah competed as part of the Spanish national team. Although France won the team competition, Spain managed to grab second place, with England taking third.
Sarah commented through her Instagram: “It was not easy surfing conditions for how small and bumpy the first few days were. In the end we had to move to the beach next door where conditions were much better. It wasn’t easy but we managed to get the title again!”
Simon Pollard, COVVI CEO, said, “It has been incredible to see Sarah’s continued success in the parasurfing arena. The spotlight that she has been able to shine on both the sport and the limb difference community has been powerful to watch. I know that she will continue to achieve, and we are so proud to be supporting her as a part of the COVVI family.”
Having already achieved first place at the Hawai’i Adaptive Surfing Championship earlier this year, this is just another example of how Sarah is leading the way for international recognition of the sport!
Sarah also graduated from university earlier this year, adding to her growing list of achievements: https://www.covvi.com/news/covvi-user-shares-bionic-handshake-as-she-graduates-with-law-degree/
