COVVI Advocate, Anna Fusco, Shares Her Story to Students Across Italy

Anna Fusco was born without her left forearm, and has dedicated her life and career to promoting positivity and raising awareness within the limb-difference community.
Anna describes growing up without one of her arms as facing a ‘unique set of obstacles’ that she had to learn to overcome; “The doctors could never tell me why I was born with a congenital limb difference, but I haven’t let it hold me back from studying singing, acting and dancing, my greatest passions.”
After participating in several singing competitions, Anna also competed twice in the ‘Miss Italia’ competition, both in 2014 and 2018, finishing in the regional final in both years.
No stranger to using her platform to raise awareness for the limb difference community, Anna starred in a short film that encouraged inclusivity and the power of respect earlier this year.
With a platform built on advocacy, Anna has now started a new journey by sharing her story and lived experiences with students across her home country of Italy.
Speaking about the talks she has been giving, Anna said: “I create motivational interventions in primary and secondary schools throughout Italy. I try to raise awareness for the new generation by touching on topics such as bullying, personal acceptance, inclusion, and integration.
“I tell my story, from the bad to the good, thus becoming living proof that strength can help you achieve any goal, even if life can go through dark times. Anything is possible, and if I can do it, anyone can.
“I present my COVVI prosthesis, explain how it is made and how it works. This allows the children a chance to learn and become familiar with prosthetics, because in life, it’s important to learn and break down taboos. We are all equal.”
In 2022, Anna received her COVVI Hand and a custom-made prosthetic arm. Since then, she has toured the world at various events – even appearing as part of Milan Fashion Week earlier this year.
Simon Pollard, COVVI CEO, said, “Anna has achieved so much over the last three years, and it has been our pleasure here at COVVI to support her across all of her endeavours. As we continue to build more advanced bionic technology, it’s so heartening to see Anna encouraging the younger generation to engage in just what has become possible when technology is integrated into prosthetic care.”
