COVVI Showcases At Local MedTech Event
In late November, the COVVI team headed to the MedTech showcase in the centre of Leeds to meet with other local companies within the industry to explore what the local community has to offer. This event, run in collaboration with The Data Shed, University of Leeds and Leeds Digital Festival, showcased and celebrated those innovating within the MedTech sector. Things kicked off with Chair of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Dame Linda Pollard, giving a keynote speech that highlighted the fantastic developments Leeds is making in the market. She explained how the sector in Leeds has the potential to create thousands of jobs in the near future. “Did you know that Leeds is home to one of the biggest and best MedTech growth opportunities in the UK, probably in Europe?”
All attendees got the opportunity to network and explore the workshops and exhibitions. Simon Pollard, COVVI CEO, was in attendance alongside Production Lead John Wilkinson and other Product Development Engineers. They were able to showcase all that COVVI has to offer and gain contacts within the local community. “There’s always quite a lot of red tape between taking a product from starting to where it needs to go but I certainly think I’ve got a few contacts here that will help us accelerate that.”- Simon Pollard.
John noted how, speaking to other local companies in similar situations, was a proud thing for a Yorkshireman such as himself and how they are great contacts for potential future collaborations. “I guess our highlight would be finding out about everything that’s going on around Leeds […] I think that having contacts within a local community that you can look to collaborate and share with is just great.”
Continuously being given platforms to share what a tremendous impact the COVVI hand has to both local and overseas audiences is a very special thing to team. Spreading the word of the real positive change COVVI is creating helps drive the team everyday to continue to change lives forever.
