Turning Adversity into Innovation: Sarah de Lagarde for TEDx London

COVVI Advocate, Sarah de Lagarde, spoke at the prestigious event at the end of April, with a recording of the full talk recently shared through the TEDx YouTube channel.
Entitled ‘How do you turn adversity into innovation?’ Sarah’s talk detailed her experiences with resilience and advanced technology.
In 2022, Sarah had a devastating incident that resulted in the amputation of her arm and leg. Just one year later, Sarah was fitted with her advanced COVVI prosthesis- a bionic hand capable of mimicking the most common hand movements and gestures.
Sarah went on to become the first woman to climb Mount Kilimanjaro two years in a row, once with two bionic limbs and once without.
As an advocate for COVVI over for the last three years, Sarah has since spoken at a number of events and showcases around the world with the objective to inspire change. Sarah stated: “As a corporate communications leader, I’ve spent years shaping narratives for some of the world’s biggest brands. Now, I’m using my voice to drive conversations around overcoming obstacles, redefining limits, and exploring the role of AI in unlocking human potential.”
COVVI CEO, Simon Pollard, said: “Sarah’s passion and resilience never fails to astound me. Seeing Sarah’s story reflected on such a prominent stage has really supported in spotlighting the role that advanced technology can play in shaping people’s lives. Over the past three years, Sarah and I have got to know each other well and I have had the honour of seeing first-hand the importance of the advocacy that she does.”
