COVVI’s Robotic Hand Can Now Be Operated Through Intuitive Control Platform

The new Robotic Setup GUI (Graphic User Interface) gives operators effective control over COVVI’s robotic hand, providing an easy-to-use, and intuitive platform to perform functional tasks with advanced dexterity.
The COVVI Robotic Hand is a versatile five-finger gripper compatible with a number of robotic systems, including Cobots (Collaborative Robots) and Humanoid Robots. With the support of the new Robotic Setup GUI, operators will now have more intuitive control to manipulate the robotic hand for complex tasks.
Upon opening, the Robotic Setup GUI connects to nearby COVVI Robotic Hands, instantly displaying a series of key system information, including: serial numbers, software and firmware numbers, hand temperature and hand humidity.
Once connected to one or multiple hands, the platform allows operators to select from a library of preset Robotic Hand grips, designed by COVVI’s expert engineers. Based on research into the most common human hand movements, the grips offer precise and powerful hand motions that are ideal for tasks in research and manufacturing environments. All preset grips and control commands (for example, open and close commands) can also be sent directly using our preset key binds, making for fast grip switching.
Alongside these preset grips, operators can also use the Robotic Setup GUI to control the movements of individual digits, as well as the thumbs’ rotation between opposed and non-opposed positions. As COVVI’s Robotic Hand is fit with sensors in each fingertip (FSRs), the Robotic Setup GUI also displays the level of feedback that these sensors are receiving. The FSR Feedback panel displays information from these sensors, illuminating orange and sharing the FSR output values when force is applied.
COVVI CEO, Simon Pollard, commented: “COVVI’s robotic hand is capable of so many advanced functions, and now operators will be able to achieve the most out of this functionality through our new control platform. We pride ourselves on advanced personalisation, with the introduction of the Robotic Setup GUI, this is easier to achieve than ever before.”
The Robotic Setup GUI can be used on both Linux and Windows. Learn more about COVVI’s functionality through: https://www.covvi-robotics.com/robotic-hand/
