Sarah De Lagarde Shares Her Journey With Global Tech Leaders At NetApp Event
In September 2022, Sarah de Lagarde’s life was changed forever when she lost her footing and fell through the gap between the train and the platform in the London Underground. Since then, Sarah joined COVVI’s growing group of Advocates, as a user of the COVVI Hand who has chronicled her journey using prosthetics.
Today, Sarah added to her list of accomplishments, by leading a keynote conversation with tech leaders and COVVI partners at NetApp, the intelligent data infrastructure company
Describing herself as 80% human, and 20% bionic, Sarah shared her inspirational story, campaign work, and how she uses the COVVI Hand in her daily life. As an advocate for COVVI since February 2023, Sarah’s platform has served as a space to share aspects of her life as a prosthetics user, alongside her work to champion the voices of those who have had experiences similar to hers.
During her conversation with Matt Watts, Chief Technology Evangelist, NetApp, at their flagship INSIGHTXtra event in London, Sarah highlighted the importance of connecting with customers: “In designing prosthetics, always keep the end user in mind. The goal is to create solutions that not only fit perfectly but also intelligently solve mobility problems. It’s not just about technology; it’s about improving lives practically and effectively.”
In a landscape where companies seem increasingly removed from the people they serve, COVVI is daring to do things differently by knowing and valuing the importance of engaging with our users. COVVI is pleased to boast an expert team who use intelligent communications channels that employ real data from the COVVI Hand in order to stay connected, and learn how people use the hand to support in their day to day activities. Working with advocates like Sarah has allowed COVVI to have a real insight into the journeys being taken by individuals all around the world.
Simon Pollard, CEO of COVVI, said: “When I first heard Sarah’s story, I was blown away by the passion and resilience that she radiates, and knew immediately that her positivity would inspire so many people. Working together with the COVVI Advocates over the years, I’ve had the honour of seeing first-hand the importance of engaging with those who use prosthetics on a daily basis. It has been heartening to see Sarah share her journey with those who do not always get to see the direct impact of the work they do.”
Sarah received a standing ovation after her dynamic talk today, highlighting the impact she continues to make.
